Gail and I landed in Guatemala City today! The adventure has officially begun! We were met with the smell of burnt rubber and sweaty Guatemalans as we exited the hot airport. There is a certain familiarity and intense mystery about this place. One never knows what to expect. But once thing I know for sure… God is here and amazing things will happen!
So far this first day has been refreshing. It’s been so sweet to catch up with old friends and fellow missionaries. We are staying with my good friend Riechelle in Guatemala City for the evening. Riechelle has poured her heart into a ministry at the local hospital. She works with children in the burn wards, cancer wards and surgery wards. Currently Riechelle has been focused on raising money for cots for the mothers of the children in the hospital. When mothers bring their children to the hospital they are sometimes there for days at a time. As a result, these poor mama’s have no where to sleep. Often they do not even have a chair. Richelle helps provide supplies to mothers and children in the Guatemala City hospital. She also hosts missions teams! What dear friend she is.
My heart still doesn’t recognize the reality that God is doing a new thing in me. I am excited for the next few days but it will be a whirlwind! Tomorrow we travel to Rio Dulce! Pray for revelation and wisdom for me. I see that change and growth are happening in my life. My heart still doesn’t recognize the reality that God is doing a new thing in me.
Exciting things to come.
